When climbing the mountains of life

A rocky path can help you grow to new heights

If the path is always smooth, you will eventually slip and fall

Among the hills my eyes will strain

To find that one sacred place

A place where peace and comfort roam

A place that I may call my home

It is time

So it begins…a new year, a fresh start. I am very excited about the possibilities this year holds in store. I don’t know, it just feels very different somehow. I make resolutions every year, but this time, I feel like I really mean it. It’s strange, to say the least, but super exciting all the same. I feel like nothing is going to hold me back from reaching the goals I set for myself this year. I will do everything I can to remain positive throughout this new journey and keep pushing through any challenges that may come my way.

So here we go 2018! I welcome you! 🙂

It’s just me

Standard

In a place I call home

There is silence, I’m all alone

No birds are chirping, no one’s home

It’s just me

I walk outside to see the day

As the clouds drift away

The sun is shining and it’s okay

It’s just me

I hear silence fill the streets

No one in cars, no more beeps

No children crying, “Mommy, please!”

It’s just me

As I wander all alone

I ask myself, “Where have they gone?

Why am I all alone?

Why is it just me?”

As I prepare for yet another day

I tell myself, “Its okay

It’s all in my head, it will go away

It’s just me.”

I open my eyes to a world left behind

As I hear no more silence in sounds

I open the door to see so much more

And feel warmth as I look around

There is no violence, hatred, or war

There’s no pollution or keeping score

This was not here before

Could this really be?

There are no terrorists, no buildings crumbled

There are roofs over every head

No stomachs rumble, no money jumbled

All have a nice, warm bed

It’s a world in our dreams, which lies deep in our hearts

When we wake to disaster, it all falls apart

We fall into routine and think, “I can’t make a new start.

No one will listen to me.”

But if we all feel the same, why can’t there be change?

This is not how life has to be

Do we all think this way, or do I have to say,

“It’s just me.”

For those who must judge, live by this rule:

Do not judge for what you see or hear
Judge only for what you understand
Therefore if you do not understand, you cannot judge

Nothing Found

Standard

‘Nothing found’ is the title displayed before you publish your first post. I saw the title to be fitting to my first post on this blog, as it is what you will find…or not find. You see, this blog is unique from most, not sure about all, but definitely sure about most. You will not find any links to any other form of social media on this site. There are no links to Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram…yadda, yadda, yadda, no tags either, at least not on my end anyway. You can share all you want on your accounts, but I have no other accounts to link to. You will not find them here because this is just a blog, nothing more, nothing less.

I wanted a place to be able to express words that inspire me. I wanted to be able to share those words with anyone who would be interested in reading them. However, I don’t want to get involved in all the social media mumbo jumbo. I have never been one to get into all the social media hype and I’m not about to start.

Back when I first started blogging, I had all the links. I had other social media sites to post on, all linked to what I was writing…I also had the headaches and stress that comes free with your social media package. 😉 Now you may not all agree with me and that’s fine. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I personally feel that all of this social media is slowly drowning humanity.

Let’s think about this: If you were a child growing up in the 90’s and beyond, you probably don’t know what the big deal is. What today’s world has to offer is all you’ve ever known. It’s all you grew up with and you grew with the technology. Now let’s look at the other side of things: If you grew up in the 80’s and anytime before, take a look at where you are now. Take a moment to compare life today to what you grew up with. Maybe you don’t agree that life was simpler back then, but I certainly do. The biggest part for me, is the social standard. I am not a social creature by any means, but I do have the desire to have social human interaction once in a while.

Before this huge wave of social media, people talked face to face more often. Kids went outside to play and used their imaginations all day long. Families would gather more often to see one another. There was just so much more personal human interaction then you would ever see today. Look around next time you are out and about, take note of how many people are not paying attention to their surrounding or each other. Why? Because they all have their face stuck to a phone or other electronic device. Starting up a conversation with people you don’t know while you wait? Doesn’t matter what your waiting for or on, you are waiting together. But do you speak to each other. Nope, you stare at the phone. Now, before you get a hair, I have still seen this kind of interaction occurring from time to time. However, it is becoming more and more scarce…that…you cannot argue with!

It’s sad, really. It’s actually, truly heartbreaking to me to watch humanity drown deeper and deeper in this huge cesspool of social media. You may find my words harsh and that’s okay. As I said in the beginning, everyone, including me, is entitled to their own opinion. And, yes, I am still using a form of social media by posting on this blog, but I am using this site more as a journal than, “Ooo, how many likes did I get?” Let me ask you this: Do you know how lonely it can feel when all you want is human interaction and everyone around you is stuck in a pool of social media? I do, which is why this blog is nothing more than a blog.

To sum things up, I welcome everyone who would like to read my blog and I thank you all for your time. I am a writer and that’s what I intend to do…write! Writing inspires me in more ways than I can ever describe and this is the place to let that inspiration flow. Whether I get a bunch of followers or not is not the goal here. Sure, I would like people to want to read my blog. I would like to inspire others. However, if you are looking for another piece of social media hype, this is not the place you will find it. Think of this blog as sitting down to read a good book or some inspirational messages. Please do not make this another part of the social media world that keeps you from your family and friends. It is my own ‘personal journal’ of inspiration and you are welcome to read it. 🙂
